Fake Newtown Facebook Pages Will Be Removed, Officials Confirm

Facebook officials have agreed to take down some unofficial tribute pages for victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting after Connecticut lawmakers submitted a formal letter on Monday alerting the social media giant to the pages' exploitive nature.
Sens. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) and Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) and Rep. Elizabeth Etsy (D-Conn.) said in the letter that several fraudulent, unofficial pages containing messages asking for money, as well as posts that harassed the Newtown shooting victims' families, were in direct violation of Facebook's user policies:

 It has come to our attention that Facebook has received multiple requests from grieving Newtown families to remove Facebook pages being used to harass them or to exploit their loss.
In the past several months, Facebook users have created hundreds of unofficial tribute pages dedicated to the victims of Sandy Hook. For example, The Greenwich Time reports over 100 tribute pages have been created using Victoria Soto’s name or likeness.
Many give the appearance they were created by loved ones in the names of the victims. Unfortunately, many of these pages have become vehicles for harassment, intimidation and possibly financial fraud. 
Pages providing platforms for people to violate the privacy of families as they grieve, or seek financial gain through soliciting donations under false pretenses, or generating Facebook “likes” for marketing purposes, should not be given quarter in the Facebook community.

We ask that you direct your staff to remove the pages referred to in complaints by Donna Soto and Kaitlin Roig down for violating the above terms of service. If you do not believe these pages violate your terms of service, please detail in a written response why. If Facebook is already looking into this matter, please detail what you have done thus far to address the take-down requests from of Donna Soto and Kaitlin Roig. Our staff and we will be pleased to work with appropriate Facebook officials to address these issues affecting the Soto and Roig families, and others who  may be affected by such abusive, unacceptable practices.

Blumenthal said that he received a phone call on Monday from Facebook representatives, confirming that they will begin the process of removing the pages immediately, the Associated Press reported.
"Certainly there have been many, too many, of these pages that are intimidating or harassing or exploitive," Blumenthal said. "I'm pleased that Facebook has responded positively."

Why We Can’t Ignore the Sandy Hook Truthers

Sandy Hook conspiracy theorists aren't going to go away if we pretend they don't exist.

We’ve been writing a lot about  the conspiracy theories surrounding the Sandy Hook school shooting — some say too much. “Why you’re giving these Sandy Hook truther media whores the time of day. Ignore them and they go away [sic],” one reader emailed.
Unfortunately, that’s probably not the case. The genie is already out of the bottle and this myth will likely only heat up as the debate over gun control does. “It’s by far the hottest topic of the moment,” David Mikkelson, the co-founder of the myth-debunking website Snopes.com  told BuzzFeed. As the site’s Ben Smith and CJ Lotz wrote today, “Some of the factors that can bring theories in from the fringe appear to be driving its unexpected surge this month: A connection to America’s intensely polarized political culture in general, and a message that appeals to a longstanding fear among gun owners, in particular.”
“This has gone super viral. It even surprised me how crazy insane the interest in this stuff is,” Paul Joseph Watson, a guest host for conspiracy theorist Alex Jones’ radio show, said today.
And thanks to the Internet, the media can no longer suffocate a smoldering conspiracy theory by ignoring it. ”The biggest problem for theorists was always getting their message out,” Robert Goldberg, a University of Utah historian who studies conspiracy theories, told Salon. “The Internet has completely changed that. Often, they don’t even bother trying to get their theories in the mainstream media anymore.” So even if the the few media outlets that have covered the theories give them a bit more exposure, it’s unlikely conspiracists would have a problem reaching their audience on their own anyway.
Indeed, they’ve already been tremendously successful. The numbers alone are staggering.
The most popular video on YouTube, “ The Sandy Hook Shooting – Fully Exposed,” produced by ThinkOutsideTheTV, already has nearly 11 million views. There are at least 40 other Sandy Hook conspiracy theory videos on YouTube with over 100,000 views. Alex Jones’ conspiracy websites, which  get 11 million visitors a month, are publishing new stories about the Newtown massacre every day.
Mentions of “Sandy Hook hoax” have  exploded on Twitter in the past week. This graph shows the spike in  Google searches for “Sandy Hook hoax,” which mostly come from conservative states like Louisiana, Alabama, Mississippi, Oklahoma and Kentucky:

Then there’s the increasing flirtation with the hoax theory among presumably credible people. On top of Florida Atlantic University professor  James Tracy, and  popular Ohio TV anchor Ben Swann, there’s Denard Span, a centerfielder for the Washington Nationals. He tweeted this week, “I was watching some controversial stuff on YouTube about the sandy hooks thing today!  It really makes u think and wonder.” (He later apologized and walked back his comments.)
One reason for the explosive growth of the movement is that it  builds on existing conspiracy theories, especially classic “ black helicopters” anti-government paranoia and theories surrounding 9/11. Not only do Sandy Hook truthers share an epistemological foundation with existing theorists, but the believers are often the very same people. On online message boards dedicated to swapping conspiracy theories, many of the commentators who argue that Sandy Hook was a “false flag” operation actually see it as merely the latest in a long line of other government operations aimed at disarming Americans, such as the shooting in Aurora, Colo., and the Oklahoma City bombing.
Meanwhile, 9/11 truthers were quick to jump on the Sandy Hook bandwagon. One popular YouTube video purportedly offering “ absolute proof” that the shooting was a hoax (338,000 views and counting) was produced by  Operation Terror, a group that produced a series of 9/11 truther videos. Let’s Roll, an Internet forum created for discussing 9/11 theories, is rife with  Sandy Hook threads.

Even birthers have gotten in on the mix. Orly Taitz, the dentist/attorney/real estate agent who helped push questions about Barack Obama’s birth certificate into the mainstream, has written  a series of blog posts about how police are “lying” about Sandy Hook. Gary Wilmott, a paralegal from Los Angeles who has run a number of birther websites, has also “confirmed” that Sandy Hook was a “scam.”
And a number of readers have written in with their own stories. “My sister is a pretty smart person. She’s in med school, went to [a good Northeast liberal arts college], is reliably liberal … and yesterday she texts me asking if i had heard about these conspiracies and whether they’re true,” one said. A woman from Orange County, Calif., told us how a fellow mother on her children’s swim team told her that Peter and Nancy Lanza worked for the CIA and trained Adam to be a suicide gunman because President Obama wanted them to. “This was a typical suburban mom … I was thunderstruck,” she said. Another wrote in about his stepfather, who “believe[s] that Sandy Hook was some sort of operation.” “My step-dad is usually fairly logical, once shown proof he is able to change his mind, hence trying to weed out all these ‘alternative’ theories,” he added.
Of course, it’s impossible to get any kind of real handle on how many people out there actually believe this stuff, but studies show that belief in conspiracy theories is far more common than most people probably assume. For instance, we reported yesterday on a new survey showing that  over 60 percent of Americans believe one conspiracy theory or another.
The true believers will probably never come around — confirmation bias will make them deaf to any conflicting evidence — but experts say the way to fight conspiracy theories is to prevent them from spreading. The only way we can do that is by first acknowledging that we have a problem.

Michelle Malkin and her flying monkeys seemed to have an issue with my tweet criticizing the poorly-attended “Gun Appreciation Day,” held Saturday. (Twitchy is run by Malkin.)

While citing the rallies as an expression of “Second Amendment” fandom, both ignored the fact that the event was not a regularly-held observance, but instead vindictively created by gun advocates in response to gun control talks following the Sandy Hook massacre.

UPDATE: Following the publication of this story, Gun Appreciation Day removed the American Third Position from its list of sponsors and released a statement about its decision. A screenshot of the original listing is available here.  

Gun Appreciation Day, a prominent effort backed by conservative media outlets and activists to oppose new gun laws, has accepted the sponsorship of a white nationalist organization to promote and mobilize supporters for its January 19 event.

Gun Appreciation Day (GAD) is partnering with the American Third Position (A3P), a political group that describes itself as representing "the unique political interests of white Americans." According to a party official, the organization is composed of "white nationalists."

GAD's organizers ask supporters to visit "gun stores, gun counters, gun shows, and gun ranges to protest the Obama administration's post Sandy Hook assault on gun rights." The event has received significant media coverage and promotion in recent days.

GAD lists A3P on its "sponsors" page along with its logo, motto ("Liberty. Sovereignty. Identity") and a link to American3rdPosition.com. Other sponsors include prominent conservative media outlets like RedState, the right-wing blog edited by CNN contributor Erick Erickson. The event's main page asks visitors to "Please Support Our Sponsors."

The pro-gun event is teaming with A3P despite ample and easily found evidence of the group's fringe views. The first Google result for the group after its official website is the user-edited Wikipedia page for A3P, which currently states in its opening sentence that the group "promotes white supremacy."

According to its mission statement, "The American Third Position Party believes that government policy in the United States discriminates against white Americans, the majority population, and that white Americans need their own political party to fight this discrimination." The group also states that it "exists to represent the unique political interests of white Americans. It exists to maintain the identity, culture, and way of life of the American people, whose forefathers, from a vast wilderness, carved out an awe-inspiring extension of Western civilization, in order that their progeny--us--might live in relative peace and prosperity."

Civil rights groups have harshly criticized A3P. The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) categorizes A3P as a white nationalist hate group, and states that it is a "political party initially established by racist Southern California skinheads that aims to deport immigrants and return the United States to white rule. The group is now led by a coterie of prominent white nationalists." The Anti-Defamation League calls A3P a "white supremacist political party."
In an September 2011 interview with West Virginia Public Broadcasting, Harry Bertram, A3P West Virginia chairman and a failed gubernatorial candidate, explained that "we are white nationalists" who are speaking out against white "genocide":

 While the party has been called white supremacist, Bertram says that's totally inaccurate.

"White supremacist is always used by left-wing liberal media types who tend to paint a broad brush on people and try to demonize them," he said. "There's nobody that I know that's a white supremacist because that's like a slave owner, someone who wants to dominate over another person or people.

"What we say, we are white nationalists which means we love our race and are willing to do something to preserve it, nationalist means putting America first.

"When you start to destroy someone's culture and identity, bringing in a different group of people who aren't the same background, that's sort of committing genocide against that group. And we're not going to stand for it without speaking out against it," said Bertram.

 A3P's website posts its white nationalist views on a variety of topics. On "race issues," the group writes:  

A3P stands to protect White American interests, since no other political party has shown interest in doing so. This does not make us racist, but protective of our rights - which every other race or group is encouraged and praised for doing. Discriminatory "affirmative action" programs and the invasion of illegal immigrants adversely affect the welfare of all Americans, but especially the White majority.

The goal of A3P is therefore to restore and preserve the legitimacy of White identity, White heritage, and expressions of White interests. We want to stop the divisive, orchestrated destruction of America and restore her to greatness.

 On immigration, A3P warns that "our people will become a minority in America within only a few decades":

 During the 1960's, our immigration system was transformed to favor persons from Third World countries incapable of assimilating into any European homeland. If current demographic trends continue, our people will become a minority in America within only a few decades. We cannot let our children grow up in a nation that is fast becoming the Brazil of the Northern Hemisphere. The vast majority of immigrants, both legal and illegal, come from nations in Latin America, Asia and Africa lacking in education, science, art, law, governance or industrial achievements in any way comparable to ours. Numerous studies have confirmed that there is no net economic benefit to the U.S. economy from Third World immigration due to the added costs of education, infrastructure, health care, welfare programs and law enforcement.

An A3P platform guide urges: "Return to Americans their traditional right of freedom of association, including voluntary racial separation; the abolishment of all forms of government-mandated and corporate-mandated racial discrimination, such as affirmative action, quotas, and all forms of 'racial sensitivity training.'"

The SPLC reported that at the time that he was named A3P chairman, William Daniel Johnson "had been advocating for the deportation of all non-white immigrants and U.S. citizens, including anyone with any 'ascertainable trace of Negro blood,' since 1985, when he wrote a book arguing for a constitutional amendment to do just that."
GAD's website contains a sponsorship registration form, and states: "If you have an Political or Member Organzation [sic], Non-Profit, For Profit, PAC, Blog, Newsletter and/or Facebook Fan Page and want to help spread the message of the first ever national Gun Apprecation [sic] Day we want to add your group to our website as a sponsor." To become a sponsor, "No cash required (we will accept contributions to help us buy ads Online and On Air) , we just ask that you spread the word to your memebers [sic], fans and followers every day until and including January 19, 2013." The website states that prospective sponsors should "fill out the form below and we will be in touch."
A3P, in turn, is promoting the day on its website along with a link to GunAppreciationDay.com and an event flyer. A3P's website posted a "position paper" on gun violence which claims that "commencing in the 60's, psychiatrists leading the liberal political left have been in charge of America's social agenda. They have stricken God from the schools, instead of ethics and morals they teach moral relativism, the entire society has been perverted through misinterpretation of the first amendment to believe that gay is OK, that violence is fine, that the new way is better."

MSNBC.com's Zachary Roth reported on several other groups sponsoring GAD that hold extreme right-wing views.

Gun Appreciation Day is organized by Political Media Inc., a Washington-based Republican consulting firm headed by Larry Ward. Ward, who also serves as GAD chairman, recently came under derision for claiming that "Martin Luther King, Jr. would agree with me if he were alive today that if African Americans had been given the right to keep and bear arms from day one of the country's founding, perhaps slavery might not have been a chapter in our history." Ward has stood by his comment and claims that GAD "honors the legacy of Martin Luther King, but also the entire civil rights movement."

UPDATE: In a statement responding to Media Matters' report, Gun Appreciation Day wrote that while they have attempted to screen out groups "that might detract from the message," "We mistakenly missed one. We have removed the group and reiterate this event is not about racial politics, it is about gun politics." The statement:

The small hard working staff at Political Media, Inc has been working diligently throughout the Gun Appreciation Day Campaign. The volume of support we have received has been overwhelming. We decided to have an open registration for sponsorship for Gun Appreciation Day put a screening process in place to avoid associating the event or Political Media, Inc. with groups or businesses that might detract from the message.
We mistakenly missed one.
We have removed the group and reiterate this event is not about racial politics, it is about gun politics. We believe in equal rights of ALL Americans in every race, gender, religion, location and economic class to keep and bear arms as guaranteed to them in the Bill of Rights.

 Gun Appreciation Day also wrote on its Facebook page: "Guys, the screening process of our sponsors was apparently not deep enough - We have corrected the problem, but you should know the left wing media called us out on it as they should have. We know better and I apologize for not catching this...but we are forging ahead - This is about Gun Liberty for all."

On the plus side, at least they apologised, instead of blaming the "liburl media".

The minus is SOMEONE involved in the gun rights scene is organising with white power racists.   That means they are there, not just promoting pro gun hysteria, but the Sandy Hook Hoax that's being used as an excuse for the pro gun hysteria.

With all the attention going to the Sandy Hook Massacre lately, let's not forget the Aurora Batman Rises Slaughter. The Colorado shooting was just as vicious, horrendous and suspicious as the one in Connecticut, even if the alleged victims were younger. Both are just as likely to be false flag conspiracies, and primarily only the question of how they are connected remains.

Do you believe the two shootings are related? Do you believe them to be staged events or actual events perpetrated or orchestrated by government agents or mercenaries?

Mossad death squads slaughtered American children at Sandy Hook

Students at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, are being guided to get out of the school after the December 14, 2012 deadly shooting.

While liberals and some conservatives believe the time has come to ban assault weapons, the graver threat to our nation’s security has been swept under the rug.

The Sandy Hook massacre appears to have been a psy op intended to strike fear in the hearts of Americans by the sheer brutality of the massacre, where the killing of children is a signature of terror ops conducted by agents of Israel.

This is being used as powerful incentive for banning assault rifles, where most of the public is unaware of the fact that the Department of Homeland Security has acquired 1.5 billion rounds of .40 caliber, hollow-point ammunition, which is not ever permissible in warfare under the Geneva Conventions.

A Senate Subcommittee has issued a report (3 October 2012) based upon its review of 680 “fusion center” reports (from 2009-2001) and found not a single indication of any domestic terrorist threat-not one! None! Since the only domestic “terrorist threats” are ones contrived by the government, especially the FBI, the public needs to know.

This information-as well as the existence of more than 300 FEMA camps and special boxcars to carry dissidents to them-has been deliberately withheld from the American people, because if they were aware of the facts of the matter, it would become obvious that those camps and ammunition are intended to be used against them.

When DHS is gearing up to conduct a massive civil war against the American people, what better excuse could there be for banning assault weapons than the massacre of 20 innocent children at Sandy Hook Elementary School?

The choice appears to be covertly revealing, where “Sandy” means guardian of men (as an allusion to guns) and “Hook” as a euphemism for hooking, gathering or confiscating the only weapons that DHS fears. And who better to slaughter American children than Israelis, who deliberately murder Palestinian children?

Mike Harris of Veterans Today has exposed the pattern relating what happened there to earlier assaults: “This is exactly what Israel did in Norway; the political party that voted sanctions against Israel was retaliated against by a ‘lone gunman’ who killed 77 children. This is what Israel always does, they go after the children.

“It is what they do in Gaza every day. It is what was done in Norway. It is what happened at Sandy Hook. Nobody buys the ‘one gunman’ story anymore, not with the Gabby Giffords’ shooting, not with the Aurora “Batman” shooting, certainly not with Breveik, and certainly not in Connecticut.”

The most likely scenario, given what we know now, is that Adam Lanza and his mother killed the day before. Adam's body picked up by local police. He was attired in a SWAT outfit, including body armor, and stored in the school.

A three-man team entered the school, one was arrested in the school--cuffed and put on the lawn--two went out the back door, one was arrested, the third appears to have escaped. You can find this on helicopter videos.

Those arrested are currently not in police custody; their names were never released. That is a telling sign that we are being sold a story that is based on fiction, not on fact. What else are the local police concealing?

A parallel situation in Aurora, where there appear to have been multiple participants, but the police concealed information about them. The DC Sniper, John Allen Muhammad, was even a active member of Delta Force, but the public was not informed.

His assistant in this killing spree, Lee Boyd Malvo, had been detained in Seattle but was released, even though he was an illegal alien, where INS has refused to explain how that happened. Did “higher authority” intervene?

Nidal Malik Hasan, the US Army Major who killed 13 and wounded 29 during a rampage at Ft. Hood, Texas, even sat next to the Director of Homeland Security during an event at George Washington University. Can that be coincidental?

When the "long gunman" cover story falls apart, then the national press, which William Colby told us was infiltrated by agents of the CIA-“The agency owns everyone of significance in the major media”-resorts to stories of Mind Control and use of drugs.

We have to see through the smoke and mirrors. These attacks typically involve three-man shooting teams, where, once the story is tainted with bogus MK/Ultra conspiracy disinformation, crucial data, like the assault rifle the Sandy Hook having been left in his car, swiftly disappears.

Lenin and Trotsky were terrorists. Lenin was an outspoken proponent of terrorism. The founder of the Lukid Party and sixth Prime Minister of Israel was an Irgun terrorist. Study its history. No nation in the world cares more about its own interests and less about those of the United State than Israel.

The bombing of the King David Hotel in Jerusalem on 22 July 1946, was a stunning example. The attack on the USS Liberty and Israel’s bombing of its own Embassy and Jewish Community Center in Buenos Aires in 1992 and 1994 are other illustration.

Those who study 9/11 are all too aware of the role of the Neo-Cons and the Mossad. But the American press covers it up-and Congress is controlled by AIPAC. As Bill Casey, former CIA Director, observed, “Our disinformation program will be complete when everything the American public believes is false.” Sandy Hook is the latest example.
